The Moment Everyday Life Becomes a Vlog 📖 A Review of Poet Park Sung-woo's 『Moments I Want to Keep』

Hello, this is the Ddungddang family.

Today I'd like to introduce a poetry collection that has warmed my heart lately.

It's poet Park Sung-woo's 『Moments I Want to Keep』.

Above all, the poet signed this book personally, which makes it even more special to me.

Every time I open it and see the handwritten signature on the first page, the flutter of that moment comes back.

A vividness like watching a vlog

What surprised me most while reading this collection was that each short poem felt like watching a vlog video.

The sentences aren't long, but after reading one, the scenes unfold vividly in my head as if I'd watched a YouTube video.

To me it came across as vividly as "a vlog written as poetry".

My memories that surfaced while reading 「The Green Mothers’ Club」

The poem I related to most was 「The Green Mothers' Club」.

It's a poem about poet Park Sung-woo's experience doing traffic duty as a green mothers' club member at his child's school,

and the moment I read it, my own past experience came back to me exactly as it was.

I wasn't in the green mothers' club, but I did take part in a reading group at my kids' school as the only dad, working hard at it.

That subtle awkwardness and pride I felt among all those mothers, the heart for the children,

and the sense of responsibility as a parent overlapped perfectly as I read the poem.

The poet’s gaze that makes small daily life special

Just like the title 『Moments I Want to Keep』, this collection makes the ordinary moments of daily life that we easily pass by feel special.

It's not grand events or dramatic stories — it's a book that makes you realize how precious the moments we're living right now really are.

As you read, thoughts naturally follow: "I should look at my day a little more carefully,"

"this moment now will someday be one of the moments I want to keep."

The poet seems to be someone who precisely captures the jewel-like emotions shining inside those ordinary moments.

In Closing

Even this moment, writing a review with the poet's signed collection in front of me,

will probably become one of the moments I want to keep when I look back later.

Through this book, I, too, ended up looking back over my daily life.

At scenes that are precious not because they're special, but because they're modest.

I warmly recommend this collection to everyone who is writing their own single line of poetry today, in their own way.
