Honestly, I've been thinking about this place for days since visiting, which is why I'm writing this review.

🏪 A butcher shop? A restaurant? Both are correct!

As the name suggests, Dongbang Meat Restaurant runs both a butcher shop and a restaurant.

The moment you walk in, fresh cuts of meat are displayed on one side and tables are laid out in rows on the other — a unique setup.

But what surprised me here was how many customers come to buy meat to take home! 🥩

Even right next to us as we sat down to eat, customers kept coming in to place takeout orders.

I thought, "Ah, if the locals buy meat here like this, the quality is already proven!"

We were lucky enough to grab a table, and after that the place filled up completely in no time! 😮

There were even people who just turned around and left because there was no seating.

I let out a quiet sigh of relief inside, thinking, "Ah... if we'd been even a little later, we'd have had to wait too."

It was a moment that really made me feel the dignity of a Geochang restaurant! If you're planning to go, I strongly recommend visiting early.

🐷 Geochang Black Pork Belly — So This Is What It Tastes Like!

I knew Geochang was famous for black pork, but eating it myself was on a whole different level!

It has a chewiness and deep savoriness that's definitely different from ordinary pork belly.

Just watching it sizzle on the grill was art, and the moment you pick up a piece, dab it in salt, and eat it...

"Ah, this is why people line up to eat here!"

The admiration came out on its own 🙌

The meat was firm yet the nutty flavor spread through your mouth the more you chewed — I really felt the true value of Geochang black pork.

But the truly amazing thing here was the aged kimchi that came with the meat!

At first I thought it was just a side dish, but the owner said, "Grill the aged kimchi along with it too."

I put it on the grill half-doubting, and... it was a total hit! 😭

The aged kimchi's characteristic sourness met the rich fat of the pork belly and created a fantastic harmony.

Put a piece of grilled aged kimchi on a slice of pork belly and pop it in your mouth, and the taste is... hard to put into words.

Honestly, you don't even need lettuce. Just meat + aged kimchi and you're done! 🤤

Dongbang Meat Restaurant was the best discovery of our Geochang trip.

Quality black pork belly, the perfect aged kimchi pairing, and a taste the locals vouch for! It was a real restaurant with all three boxes ticked.

You'll be able to feel for yourself why the takeout customers never stop coming.
