Dutayeon Valley, a pristine nature trail in the DMZ
Dutayeon is a valley in Yanggu where a nature trail offers a glimpse of the pristine DMZ ecosystem.

A valley shaped by nature
Dutayeon is a valley in Bansan-myeon, Yanggu, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. It lies downstream of Sateri, along a tributary of Suipcheon. The valley’s setting makes it a place to experience the natural scenery of the area.
The Peace Nuri-gil trail is located at Dutayeon, on the route toward Geumgangsan. Visitors can take in the valley’s clean natural surroundings and the distinctive landscape described as part of the DMZ ecosystem.
A protected landscape opened to visitors
Dutayeon is in a civilian-controlled area. Access had been restricted for more than 50 years after the Korean War, and the site opened to visitors in 2004. Its long period of restricted access helped preserve the area’s natural environment.
The valley is presented as a natural ecological trail and a treasure trove of DMZ ecology, with pristine nature still intact. Conditions for access can change, however: military training or adverse weather may lead to an unannounced restriction. Check the official notice before visiting.
