Shinsegae Main Store, a Historic Department Store with an Art Garden
Shinsegae Main Store is a historic department store where luxury shopping meets an art-filled garden.

A landmark with a long history
Shinsegae Department Store introduced the modern department-store concept in the early 1960s and established the country’s first directly operated system. Its Main Store represents the company’s traditions and values, and stands on the site of Mitsukoshi’s Gyeongseong branch, described as Korea’s first department store.
The store’s old-style architecture evokes its long history. Following a remodel in 2007, it reopened as a luxury department store with an emphasis on culture, bringing together shopping and cultural experiences.
Luxury shopping and distinctive brands
The Main Store features major luxury brands including Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Visitors can also find labels presented exclusively by Shinsegae, including Giorgio Armani Black Label, Denim Mania and Shoes Holic.
On the fifth floor, Boon the Shop & Company offers a refreshed take on the original Korean select shop, with products from younger brands and emerging designers. The store’s range and services are presented as part of its effort to offer a distinctive shopping experience.
Art and a place to pause
The sixth-floor Trinity Garden is a sculpture park displaying works by internationally renowned artists. Its collection includes works by Alexander Calder, Joan Miró and Henry Moore, known as a leading figure in British sculpture.
Water flows among the sculptures, and benches are placed throughout the garden. Visitors can take a break after shopping and view the artworks in a setting that combines traditional and modern aesthetics.
